What can I say other than this is an excellent watch for the price but then I don't keep up with the Jones'! Why on earth would someone pay a great deal of money for a watch that will perform no better? If my watch goes wrong I can chuck it and buy another. No tears shed!

I needed a watch for work that was inexpensive due to the nature of my job as a Heating Engineer. There is no point having anything else, this watch is spot on! Nice and light, looks pretty retro too! Does what it says on the tin.

I bought this for a slightly unusual purpose - I needed a clock for my motorbike, and after a couple of motorbike specific clocks failed, I decided to just strap a good old casio to the handlebars. I chose this one because it was (a) cheap (b) waterproof (c) has a large display and (d) has long battery life.

The vibration and exposure to the elements have had no effect on this watch, and it has performed perfectly for a year now. For use at night, there is a brief illumination function which I can activate in my bike gloves - it's a bit fiddly, but possible.
I would recommend this watch for anyone, but especially handy for someone with either poor vision, or a motorbike (or both... but I'd guess if that's you, then the time of day isn't your most pressing problem right now)

I have owned a succession of Casio watches. They work well and never go wrong, but are let down by the plastic straps which in my experience last only about 3 years before splitting and breaking. When you submit your watch to Casio for repair, you then find that: a) the strap is not covered by warranty, and b) Repair is going to cost more than half the original purchase cost of the wristwatch.

That is exactly how I came to buy this latest model! The strap is segmented near the body of the watch, which gives the impression that it might be more flexible in this area (where breakage typically occurs), but time will tell.

Good points:
1. Clear, easy to read display.
2. Free from supplementary (and unnecessary) dials within the display, as found on earlier models.
3. Well designed buttons which make inadvertent button press much less likely than on previous Casio models.
4. Slim, and comfortable to wear. Light weight.

Bad points:
1. Will the strap last more than 3 years this time?
2. The alarm sound is so soft as to be barely audible, and is useless. So it's a good job I don't plan to use the many alarm functions available. However, I would have liked the hourly time signal.

I am somewhat of a watch collector, I have two other Casio Waveceptor watches, two timex watches, a Swatch watch and a £180+ Tissot. This I have to say is my favourite watch overall. It's simplicity itself. Clear display, good solid construction, feels good on the wrist but not too bulky compared to other G Shock watches. The look of the watch is one of the watches strongest points, having been an owner of several more garish bulky G shocks over the years that may feel the business for the first few months but then you soon come to realise that you should not have bought it, this watch comes as a welcome change.

As it was released as one of the 25th Anniversary watches, Casio have cleverly gone back to the design of their first ever G Shock watch but included radio controlled time keeping and solar battery charge, ensuring the watch has current technology behind its classic face.

Well worth buying - you will not regret it.

First Casio to meet all my requirements in a watch - LCD, radio control, solar powered. A simple classic display. The radio works better than described in the manual, where you're supposed to place the watch upright in a window overnight for best reception. I just put it down anywhere and it's synced successfully between 0202 and 0204 every night. (I live in west midlands). The face is glass instead of plastic, the back is a nicely engraved piece of steel and the strap is substantial. Recommended.

I own quite a lot of diffferent watches but i have to say this is prety much perfect. This model celebrates 25yrs of G-shocks since inception from 1983 and the GW-M5600-1ER keeps its original retro styling in this model but is crambed with the latest technology.
The first thing you notice is the watch is not large and bulky like some G-shock models but wears light and comfy on the wrist. The display is easy to read { unlike the DW-5600B-1AVER model which has the negative display and difficult to read in low light } This watch has a great feature of having the EL light automatically illuminating the face when turned 40 deg -so not having to press buttons in low light conditions-neat!
The atomic time keeping in CAN, USA, LON, EUR, JAPAN means the watch syncs with these atomic station, so acurate time to within 1 sec in 1,000,OOO yrs and no dates to set, it automatically adjusts for British Summer time. Solar power means no replacement batteries.
Its great that this digital watch has a water resistant rating for 200m and can take a beating -so ideal for my mountain biking/ swimming activities. It has 5 alarms, including 5 min snooze repeat, hourly time beep, countdown timer for my eggs and a stop watch with 1/100 sec timing for my running. Too many other functions including world time for 29 ciites..To be honest i think Casio have a winner here..its a watch you wear to work, sport & play....also retro is in !! get one..you wont be dissapointed. Look out for my video review, if i get enough requests here.

Having owned quite a lot of G-Shock watches over the years, this is one of the better models. It outwardly looks quite plain and is less chunky and sleeker than many G-Shock models. It's appearance is deceptive because internally this is a very tough and sophisticated watch. It has all the usual G-Shock features but as well as that it has radio time-sync with atomic clocks (which works exactly as described) and is solar powered. The LCD display is also an improvement on some recent G-Shock watches as sometimes the numerals can go quite opaqued when your wrist is turned at certain angles - this watch doesn't have that problem.

It hides its sophistication in a tough but simple exterior which I think is to its credit; some G-Shock watches are true monsters that are not attractive, don't fit under shirt-cuffs as they're too thick and can (to my eyes) look like children's watches. This watches dispenses with all that, it stays slim and refined and doesn't have the overly fussy display that are common to some G-Shock models.

This is a top quality, G-Shock watch that does not deserve to be called "retro" because it's actually very modern with a sleek, refined appearance. Highly recommended to anyone needing a resilient, tough watch where highly accurate time is important to you - an excellent design and well executed features.
